Biography

Dr. Karen L. Graves is an Assistant Professor of Business at 黑洞社区, where she also serves as the Chair of the Finance and Economics Program. With over 24 years of experience, Dr. Graves is a transformative executive leader who has led multi-million-dollar organizations throughout Philadelphia.

She holds a Ph.D. in Public Policy with a concentration in Non-profit Management and Leadership, an MPA in Public Policy, an MBA in Accounting, and a BS in Accounting and Finance. Dr. Graves has held key positions such as Chief Financial Officer, Director of Fiscal and Operations, Chief Operating Officer, and Chief Compliance Officer in some of Pennsylvania's largest drug and alcohol organizations, mental health and intellectual disability services, and federally qualified health centers.

Dr. Graves has been instrumental in steering organizations towards financial stability and growth, demonstrating exceptional leadership and management skills. Her commitment to community health is reflected in her significant contributions to care coordination and resource settings, particularly in enhancing the well-being of African American communities in Philadelphia.

Dr. Graves is a member and Treasurer for Freedom Worship. She formally served as Trustee and Vice Chair of the Finance and Chair of the Audit Committee for Eastern University Academy Charter School in addition to various volunteer programs.

In addition to her professional achievements and leadership, Dr. Graves is dedicated to educating the current and next generation. Her life's work is centered on serving forgotten and underserved communities, advocating for health equity, and leading initiatives to address social and health inequities.
